Sarah Gough - Nursery Teacher

Hello, my name is Sarah Gough and I am a qualified teacher in the nursery. I job share with Gemma Gammon who is also a qualified teacher. I qualified 17 years ago and have  worked at Riverside, which was previously Hunderton Infants, ever since.

I have worked in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 and in Nursery and am “Early Years” trained.

I love my job and feel passionately about supporting children’s learning and development in the Foundation Stage.

The children learn so much through their play, especially when it comes from themselves and their own experiences. Gemma and I plan carefully together to ensure continuity and progression and to ensure the children are more importantly having fun!

Every child is unique and I believe that it is so important for every child to have opportunities to interact in positive relationships and enabling environments.

We are very proud of our Nursery and what we provide for our 3 and 4 year olds and we know what is expected of them for their transition into Reception.

Come and arrange a time to come and see us, the door is always open!

Gemma Gammon - Nursery Teacher

My Early Years career began when  I initially trained as a nursery nurse at Hereford Technology College and then went on to gain a Higher National Diploma in Early Childhood Studies at Worcester University.

I was then employed as a special learning assistant, supporting children with specific needs, in a local primary school back home in Wales. This proved an invaluable experience in preparing me for my teaching career and whilst working here I returned to university, gaining a BA Hons degree in Early Childhood studies.

In 2008 I moved to Hereford and enrolled on a PGCE at Worcester University, focusing specifically in the Early Years Foundation Stage, to become a qualified teacher. On completing the course I was employed as nursery teacher at Riverside Primary and have worked within our dedicated Early Years team ever since.

Zoe Davies - Nursery Nurse

Hello everyone, I'm Zoe Davies, the nursery nurse working in the nursery.  Since achieving my NNEB and qualifying as a nursery nurse 21 years ago, I've worked in two Herefordshire schools in their nurseries until joining Riverside in November 2013.  I've also passed the ELKLAN speech and language course which has proved invaluable.

I will always want the best for the children and my priority is for the children to feel safe, secure, relaxed and happy within our stimulating/responsive environment and by tailoring my approach to their individual needs, they are able to find their own learning.

What a delight it is to be working with these amazing children who make me smile everyday.

Let the fun begin!

Mandy Cullum - Teaching Assistant

Hello, my name is Mandy Cullum and I am the Teaching Assistant in the nursery.  I have a Level 3 NVQ teaching assistant qualification and prior to working in the nursery at Riverside, I worked for five years in another Herefordshire primary school.  I have completed Early Years Foundation Stage training as well as ELKLAN 'Let's talk with under 5s' and Paediatric first aid.

I love spending time with the children in the nursery - it's a wonderful environment and we have lots of fun together.  We explore outdoors, play games, paint, make dens, dress up, ride bikes, sing songs and get messy being creative and we learn lots through play.
