Welcome to Little Troopers

Little Troopers is a registered charity supporting all children with one or both parents serving in the British Armed Forces. They ensure schools have the resources they need to help Service children and their families feel supported, understood and connected.

At Riverside, we run our own Little Troopers club to help Service children meet others with similar experiences, enabling them to support each other in a friendly, fun and nurturing environment.

Our ethos is to provide a safe time and place where children can have fun, play, talk, be together, form friendships and share any worries they may have in a supportive, caring setting. Children can attend every week or simply come along when they feel they need extra support.

What we do:

We are committed to supporting our Service children and their families throughout the unique challenges of Armed Forces life.

We offer 1-1 pastoral support during deployment, mobility and school moves, ensuring children feel understood and supported. Families can also contact us if they need help, and we work closely with the Hereford Garrison Resilience Team when additional support is needed.

We help Service children stay connected through creative projects, team‑building activities, performances and shared celebrations. We also take part in key events such as Armed Forces Week, Remembrance Day, and the Month of the Military Child, helping children feel proud of their identity and visible within the school community.

Our work is supported by Service Pupil Premium (SPP), which helps us provide emotional, social and pastoral support tailored to the needs of Armed Forces families.

When do we meet:

Little Troopers meets in school every Monday after school from 3.10–4.00pm and is run by our Military Families Coordinator, Santina Lloyd along with Mrs. Garth.

Who can join:

Any child from Reception to Year 6 who has a parent/carer currently serving or who has recently served in the Armed Forces.
